• About us

In Hagspiel, a small hamlet near Oberstaufen in the Allgäu region, we – a three-generation extended family – live together with children, young people and adults who receive pedagogical support.

Our community grows from the connection between family and work. In our daily life, we take our bearings from a mountain-farming way of life: close to nature, hands-on, and communal.

Our everyday life is varied and lively. We work, learn and live together. Everyone contributes their own skills, ideas and experience. In this way, a place emerges where community is lived out, where diversity has room to flourish, and where we shape life together.

    Animals, Garden, Nature

Respect for nature, its rhythms and its needs lies at the heart of our life together. Aware of our connectedness and sense of belonging, we want to take responsibility for the whole and find our place within it. We are rooted in the Allgäu and wish to experience and shape this region, our home.

We grow our own vegetables and fruit and occupy ourselves with the storage, preservation and preparation of food. We breed seed, and keep sheep, hens and bees. We fell our own timber and so experience directly the process from tree to warm meal and cosy living room. Through working together with nature and its circumstances, we find confirmation of our work on our own plate.

    Craft

We learn and cultivate crafts through which we come to understand natural laws and deeper connections of meaning: woodworking, carving, pottery, clay building, oven building, cast stone, wool processing, beeswax candles…
By making valuable products ourselves, we experience what we do as sustainable and meaningful.
